Lakeside is a not-for-profit facility under
sponsorship
of the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas.
Each resident will feel at home with:

- Family-like atmosphere with meals
eaten together
- Nutritious home-cooked meals
- The ability to personalize their own
room with their unique personality
Each of the 12 resident bedrooms include:
- Single bed
- Night stand with hutch
- Desk and chair
- Cable TV hookup
- All linens
(towels, sheets, etc.)
- Two closets
- Sink
- Mirror
- Individual heating and air
conditioning unit
Those desiring admission must meet the following
criteria:
- Have mild, moderate, severe or
profound mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities
- Must be able to participate in and
benefit from an active treatment plan of habilitation
- Have had an interdisciplinary
diagnostic evaluation prior to admission
- Have been interviewed by the Lakeside
Terrace interdisciplinary team
- Have record of current immunizations
including Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis screening completed prior to
admission.
Lakeside classified as a Intermediate Care
Facility for Mentally Handicapped/Developmentally Disabled/Retarded facility.
It is licensed by the Department of Health
and Environment and staffed with individuals who are trained in accordance with
the law to provide for the needs of those residing there. Each shift is staffed
with an LPN or Certified Medication Aide (CMA) and two program
assistants to provide direct care.
All direct care personnel are encouraged to take
an offered CNA course as well as ongoing training, which includes but is not
limited to the following:
- CPR
- Aggression management
- Active treatment
- Safety: fire and tornado
- Seizure first aid
- Infection control
- First aid
- Various conferences for education
